There are many activities that Campaign volunteers can take part in throughout the year and nine types of volunteer roles available. You may wish to do one, three, or all of them. Once you have decided which activities you would like to carry out, download the volunteer pack, complete the application form and return to us at the specified freepost address. We will then send you an introduction pack.

1. Being part of a regional group
Regional groups have huge fundraising potential and being part of a team instead of fundraising alone means that members can motivate and support each other. Joining a group is also a fantastic way to involve your friends or meet new people. We are keen to develop a network of regional fundraising groups across the UK to represent us in their local communities and raise vital funds for our work. We are currently holding meetings UK-wide to talk to volunteers about starting and running their own regional group. To find your nearest meeting, call Lauren on 020 7749 3708 or email volunteer@breastcancercampaign.org
2. Attending local events / cheque presentations
Many individuals, schools and businesses raise money for us each year and often request that a representative attends the event or a cheque presentation. We rely on our network of regional representatives to act on our behalf and show our appreciation of their support. This often involves having a photo taken of the presentation and can sometimes require the volunteer to give a thank you speech. You will be briefed before the event so you know exactly what to do when you arrive.
3. Organising your own event
Organising an event for Campaign in your area is a great way to raise money for us and boost our profile in your community. The type of event is entirely up to you and could be one annual fundraiser such as a ball or fashion show, or regular, smaller events such as coffee mornings and car boot sales. We can provide ‘How to' guides for a number of events to get you started, or you may like to come up with an entirely different event of your own. Whatever you choose to do, we will be here to provide you with all the support and advice you need to make it a success. Find out more about the different ways to organise your own event
4. Distributing Campaign collection tins and ribbons
A simple but effective way of generating funds in your local community is distributing collection tins and ribbons to local businesses. All you need to do is call in to local shops, garages, pubs etc. and ask if they would be happy to have a tin or box of ribbons on their counter. You would then be called on when the tin needs emptying and send the monies collected back to us. It’s as simple as that.
5. Collecting for Campaign in your local area
This is as easy as it sounds. If you indicate that you are willing to take part in this activity, we will contact you when a retailer in your area has granted permission to collect. This role is only required once or twice a year.
6.Organising a collection in your local supermarket
In 2005, Morrisons’ collections raised a staggering £62,000. Following on from this success, we have designed a ‘How to…’ guide about organising supermarket collections. This is a simple but extremely effective way of raising funds for Campaign, so take a look at the guide below to see how you can help.

7. Helping at a national event
We rely on the support of volunteers at all large Campaign events such as the Flora London Marathon, Friendship Walks, national exhibitions and carol services to ensure that the day runs smoothly and all attendees enjoy the experience. This can involve anything from cheering on runners to managing stalls.
8.Distributing posters and leaflets in your area
You can influence the success of our events significantly by offering to publicise them in your local area. Our large, annual initiatives such as wear it pink call on supporters across the country to host their own activities with the help of our fundraising packs and guidance. To get more individuals to support these campaigns, we need you to put out posters and flyers in your local area e.g. in doctors surgeries, on community notice boards or in local shops. You can decide how many posters and flyers you are able to distribute and they will be sent directly to your house at the beginning of each campaign.
9.Being a charity spokesperson
Part of Campaign’s mission is to raise awareness of breast cancer throughout the UK. One of the ways the charity does this is by working with journalists on magazines and newspapers that publish real life breast cancer stories throughout the year and particularly during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. If you would like to share your experiences with others, please email Claire at clearner@breastcancercampaign.org or call 020 7749 3705.
